SylvaMED project: a gear of society, governments and landowners

SylvaMED was launched on 18-20 November in Marseille, France. SylvaMED is an international project under the MED Programme of the European Commission, coordinated by the Forest Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC) and involving six partners from different Mediterranean countries: Slovenia, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (France), Reggio Liguria (Italy), Crete (Greece), Catalonia (Spain) and the Languedoc-Roussillon (France). In addition, the European Forest Institute (through its Mediterranean Regional Office-EFIMED) and the International Forest Owners Association for the Mediterranean region -ARCMED- will provide Pan-Mediterranean information from the scientific community and the forest owners.

Scholarships for EFI Member Organisations in 2011

The European Forest Institute (EFI) offers a 3-months stay to develop a research plan in its locations. EFIMED welcomes applications dealing with topics on  "Impacts of Climate Change in the provision of Mediterranean forest goods and services".

Open calls for EFIMED courses

During 2011 EFIMED participates in the organisation of two courses in line with the strategic objectives of the MFRA:

- EFI Winter Summer School 2011: Making values work - exploring multiple perspectives in understanding the valuation of forest ecosystems

- COST 0701 Training School: Use natural or artificial regeneration? A dilemma after forest fires. EFIMED will grant participants from non-COST countries in North Africa and Middle East.
