The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) and EFI are coordinating “COST Strategic Workshops: Foresight on Future Demand for Forest-based Products and Services”. Part of the exercise in 2010-2011 is to collect expert perceptions about the futures of the forest-based sector in a long time horizon.You have now a chance to contribute to the forest-based sector futures 2050 by giving your input to the Internet Survey “Foresight on Future Demand for Forest-based Products and Services”. We cannot predict the future, but we can explore alternative futures how things might evolve. Share you perceptions and learn about how others see the future, the opportunities and challenges ahead us!

EFINORD inaugurated

The development of EFI Regional Offices continues. The North European Regional Office – EFINORD was the latest office to be inaugurated on 17 November 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark. EFINORD is headed by Mr. Mika Mustonen and the two thematic issues facing EFINORD will be biomass production and ecosystem services, with cross-cutting themes of climate change, environmental economics and governance and policy.

New Executive Director at IUFRO
The IUFRO Board has recently confirmed the appointment of Alexander Buck as new Executive Director. The appointment follows the recommendation of a selection committee composed of senior IUFRO officeholders from the previous and current Board periods, who scrutinized applications and thoroughly interviewed the short-listed candidates.
