EFIMED strengthens cooperation with the FAO

Dr. Marc Palahi, Head of EFIMED, presented the activities of EFIMED in the field of “forest fires” and of “forest and water” during the second Enlarged Silva Mediterranea Executive Committee Meeting (18 March 2009), in the occasion of the 19th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO). 

EFIMED and FAO-Forestry have conducted and are planning joint activities in the crucial field of Forest and Water interactions. In this context, EFIMED and FAO are jointly organising the EFIMED annual scientific seminar in 2009 on Mediterranean forests in the context of integrated management: Soil, Water and Fodder . There are also plans to organise a side event on Forest and Water during the World Forestry Congress . Dr. Palahí also presented the initiative of the Mediterranean Forest Research Agenda (MFRA) and asked for the comments from FAO and Silva Mediterranea Committee.

FORVALUE final report published online

The final report of the study on the Development and Marketing of Non-Market Forest Products and Services (FORVALUE) has been published at the website of the DG Agriculture.

EFIMED Short Scientific Visits – prolongued deadline

Deadline of applications: 12th April 2009

EFIMED grants young Mediterranean researchers a possibility to visit 2- 4 weeks at another Mediterranean forest research institution. The aim is to foster collaboration and learn new techniques, use methods and tools not available at their own institutions.
